Aurora Angela Almendral is part of the Filipino diaspora.  She grew up in Quezon City before moving to the East Bay, where she attended Arroyo High School.  She has been based in New York City for ten years, where she graduated magna cum laude in Anthropology and Economics from CUNY Hunter College.
